RoverJack's Personal Basic Knifing Guide For Battlefield 2142

Introduction

The knife is a short range weapon that can kill your opponents in a single strike.

Knife usage in Battlefield 2142 is mainly to get dog tags from players. This is to prove that you can kill him at an extremely close range. I use the knife to kill those people who are annoying / irritating to me. Let’s start off by looking at the four different classes in Battlefield 2142.

Recon - These guys are sneaky and use a lot of stealth to eliminate their foes. This is the best class to be for knifing as you can use the IT-33 active camouflage to secretly attack your enemy. However, not all the time is IT-33 good...you can get spotted by support soldiers or by the noise the device makes. But mostly, if your prey is dumb enough not to notice the sound, you may actually get close to him and stab him in the back.

Assault - These guys can fight fiercely and then retreat to heal themselves. The second best class to be for knifing. You can heal once you are hurt and if you get spotted, change to your primary weapon from your knife and kill the prey. Especially if you have a Voss-LAR, this gun can pack a punch of 40 rounds, making your prey's escape even harder for him as he has to avoid all your shots! Most people cannot escape this situation unless you are so lousy in aiming. I myself cannot run away from a Voss-LAR's high velocity and large clip size.

Engineer - An anti-tank class. Not a good class to be for knifing, although sometimes you may land on some snipers in the field, your primary weapon is not a anti-infantry type gun. If you get noticed, your gun may not be accurate enough to kill your prey before he turns around and kill YOU! Hey! Do your job as an anti-tank and wipe those enemy vehicles off the face of Earth.

Support -  These dudes supply ammo! Also not my favourite class to knife. Support soldiers knife mostly in the titan, when enemy soldiers are lurky around the crates and stuff. If you have a Clark 15B Shotgun, you could kill your prey in one shot, should they turn around to see. Sentry guns can distract your prey, making them jump around to get out of the gun's sight and range, while you can run towards them and give him the stab of their life!

Knifing works best in Camp Gibraltar, Suez Canal, Fall of Berlin, Belgrade and in the titan.

My 3 knifing tactics are the "Dash and Knife", "Dash, Drop and Knife" and the "Siderwinder".

Dashing and knife is a bit tricky because you have to aim your imaginery crosshair at the prey while running forward. Note: Do not run towards your prey immediately or you may get killed if the prey is holding a Clark 15B or Herzog Shotgun!

Dash, Drop and Knife is pretty much, running towards your prey and proning, and then you cut his body! This is to prevent him from knifing you, if he can whip his knife out at the right time. Some people may try to run away and fire at you, at this point, what the heck! KILL THEM WITH YOUR PRIMARY WEAPON!

Sidewinder sprinting is sprinting in a zigzag manner, then, quickly dodge to the side of your enemy and STAB! Zigzagging allows you to dodge bullets so you would not get hit much. I use this pretty often in dogfights.

Finding the right kill!

I may suggest that you find a good sniper or support soldier to knife.

Snipers use far-range weapons, making them suck at close range combat. Snipers have no targeting reticule when they are not in zoom mode, so they cannot fire at you immediately when they notice you. But do not underestimate the power of a sniper, they may usually have enough time to make 1 last shot at you and if they hit your head, you will be dead. Snipers hide in sniper nests, so its important to locate them! I do not have any pictures for now, that’s why I cannot show you the spots they hide in. Never release your cloaking when you are about 10 paces to the sniper, they can hear the sound your IT-33 makes you know. Release the cloaking and crouch and walk or prone and crawl to your target. 90% of the proning and crawling will work.

Support soldiers are the most frequent target for knifers, they tend to shoot until their MG overheats. A lot of support soldiers panic a lot when they find a knifer heading towards them and they run away and gun at you at the same time! Support soldiers cannot have good accuracy if they move, remember? BUT don't run straight at them, try using the Sidewinder tactic.

Watch Out!

Never knife an Assault soldier straight! If he holds a Baur-HAR, you will be dead in about 2 seconds. Voss-LAR is worse...so please; don't attack an assault soldier directly with the knife! I did that many times before and I kept dying. Trust me...
